Dawn Of Existence's 'Ancient Arts' | REVIEW

Releasing May 5th, 2023 Really, I'd hate to start this review off with a bias, but I have to, for honesty's sake, express my profound love of blackened melodic metal (or, I guess melodic black metal ). Pairing the chaotic nature of bl,ack metal with something typically slower and structured just puts this sort of music in a place I can only describe as 'pleasing'. Yeah, it's the sort of thing that just clicks in the grey matter of my brain - as if my subconscious craves it in some primordial way (I'm aware this is probably the most pretentious way I could possibly describe it). So, when a band like Dawn of Existence comes my way with something like Ancient Arts - I mean, how could I resist a listen (I couldn't)? Now, this is their debut album following a demo released way back in 2019 called Pale Mythos . Disclaimer: I hate to have to put this, as it seems obvious - but I've got in trouble for it in the distant past (on another blog). Clearly, the album title on songs contained within follow the same tropes set forth by bands such as Cannibal Corpse. It doesn't mean that I, or likely the band (can't speak for them, but I'm assuming), truly support any of the subject matter tackled in any of these tracks. I'm simply reviewing an album, that is all. There is an expectation that comes with an album titled Orchestronic Abortion ; the sort of music that is designed for some pubescent teenager to blare to piss off their parents and forward that self-destructive alienation we all tend to participate in as we pass our first decade of existence. No, I don't think that Angelic Desolation intentionally aims for this certain demographic - but I know, as I know as I was one, that the monstrosity they've constructed here will doubtlessly resonate with anyone tackling th...

Dynazty | MINI-RETROSPECTIVE

Dynazty is a Power Metal band from Stockholm, Sweden in 2007. They were soon joined by the powerful voice talents of Nils Molin in 2008. The entire band consists of lead vocals: Nils Molin, Guitarist: Love Magnusson, Guitarist: Mikael Lavér, Bassist: Jonathan Olsson; and last but by no means least drummer: Georg Härsten Egg. To listen to their earlier albums, they come off like melodic hard rock, and I have to say though they were truly good, as the years went on, they definitely became more intense, and I mean that in no way, shape, or form in a bad way. With each and every song they perform, every bit of emotion is emitted in every song. Every song is presented with powerhouse vocals and amazingly played music, that leaves the listener wanting to hear even more. Definitely a group I listen to when I am writing my novel as the power vocals and just as great music truly opens doors to the imagination, igniting a creative spark! Every album will have a favorite for listeners, however so...
